The calculations provided in this tool are for informational purposes only in relation to the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).

They do not constitute legal or regulatory advice. Only the applicable EU Regulations, Implementing Regulations, and official guidance issued by the European Commission are authoritative.

Methodology

The calculations are based on the default values published by the European Commission and the applicable benchmarks under the CBAM framework.

User-provided Emission Values

Where users input their own emission values, the following applies:

Installation-specific values may only be used in the official CBAM Registry of the European Union if they:

• have been determined in accordance with the applicable CBAM requirements; and
• have been verified by an accredited verifier.

Within this tool, where user-provided emission values are used, the regulatory benchmark required across all production processes is not applied. Instead, the benchmark used under the standard value methodology is applied.

Results may therefore deviate significantly from the values required under the applicable CBAM rules.

Carbon Prices (Deductions)

The deduction of carbon prices paid in third countries is provided for under CBAM.

However, no such deductions are applied in this tool, as the relevant implementing rules and applicable standard values have not yet been published by the European Commission.

User Responsibility

The user is solely responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the data entered and compliance with all applicable CBAM requirements.
